I’d like to share two stories with you. The first explains my struggle with weight and diet, and the myriad crash diets to lose weight I’ve experimented with to try and lose weight, gain stamina, and improve my health. The second is more positive – an explanation of how, after ten years, I’ve finally found the solution.
I’ve spent most of my adult life overweight. Despite being reasonably athletic back in college, I was never ‘fit’ in the traditional sense, and I’ve certainly never been skinny. After I left college and entered the corporate world, my figure went from something I didn’t mind seeing in the mirror to something I was ashamed of. I was putting on weight, and I had no idea why.

A lot of women are desperate to lose weight quickly and dream of having the silhouette of a “Top Model”. To be thin is certainly a laudable goal as it promotes health and is aesthetically pleasing (at least in our society). However, the thinness of models is questionable because, all too often it is not healthy.
Most models are far below their healthy weight. Women are biologically programmed to maintain a certain percentage of fat tissue to carry a pregnancy to term. When the body does not reach this minimum percentage of fat, menstrual cycle stops because the body recognizes that it could not carry a child. For the same reason, the sexual desire disappears.
